VISA 491 – SMALL BUSINESS OWNER
Small Business Owner – SBO
This is a temporary residency visa that combines skilled work with small business investment in suburban areas of Australia. This program is suitable for international students who have completed or are about to complete their studies, or for those who hold a 485 visa or other visas that allow full-time work in Australia.
With this visa, the primary applicant can stay in Australia to start a business with modest capital and pursue the goal of long-term settlement in Australia.
BENEFITS
The primary applicant, along with their spouse and children under 23 years old (at the time of visa application), are granted a residency visa in a designated area of Australia for a period of 5 years.
The entire family is free to travel between Vietnam and Australia during the validity of the 491 visa.
The primary applicant has the opportunity to become a permanent resident of Australia after 3 years of holding the 491 visa, provided that they meet all the required conditions set by the Department of Home Affairs.
REQUIREMENTS
The primary applicant must be under 45 years old at the time of application.
The primary applicant must obtain a minimum of 65 points on the Skilled Migration Points Test.
The primary applicant must either purchase an existing business or establish a new company under the following conditions:
- In the case of purchasing an existing business in Australia: The purchase price of the business must be at least 100,000 AUD and the business must have been successfully operating for at least 6 months prior to submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI).
- In the case of establishing a new company: The business must have been operating successfully and profitably for at least 2 years prior to the visa application; the revenue generated in the 12 months prior to the visa application must be at least 200,000 AUD.
The primary applicant must employ at least 1 full-time employee who is an Australian or New Zealand citizen working a minimum of 20 hours per week.

VISA 191 – SMALL BUSINESS OWNER
Small Business Owner – SBO
This is stage 2 of the 491 visa program. After holding the temporary residency visa for at least 3 years, the visa holder has the opportunity to apply for permanent residency under the 191 visa program, provided that they meet all the required conditions. The spouse and children of the primary applicant are also granted permanent residency visas.
